Southfork....evening....

Heather is walking alone by the stables at Southfork at sunset when Lucas is looking for her.  Spotting his wife at the stables, he walks out to her.  "Heather,"  he says, running up to her.

Heather turns to him, tears in her eyes.

"Hey, you alright?"  Lucas asks.

"I'm just so worried about Jacob."

"I know.  We all are."

"Lucas, all I've been able to think about since this afternoon was, what if that was Michael?  Lucas, he was so upset when we told him about Jacob."

Lucas sighs.  "I know.  Heather, right now, it's important for us to be there for our son.  And for Chris and Courtney.  They're really gonna need us now."

Heather nods.

"It's gettin'  cold out here.  Let's get back to the house."

Heather puts her arm around Lucas's waist and the two begin walking back to the house together.  A few minutes later, Lucas and Heather walk into the foyer, and find Bobby and Ann in the den with Lucy, having drinks.  The couple walks into the room.

"Have you talked to Christopher any more since we left the hospital?"  Lucas asks.

"Yes.  Jacob is awake and alert and all settled in his room at Texas Health Presbyterian,"  replies Bobby.

"And I talked to Mitch,"  says Lucy.  "He's going to consult with the cardiologist after he examines Jacob."

"This all just seems unreal,"  Ann says.

"I'm gonna go up and see how Michael's doing,"  Lucas says.  As he starts to leave the room, John Ross and Alex walk in.

"Well, evenin', everyone,"  John Ross cheerfully says.  "What's for dinner?  I'm starved,"  he says as he walks to the bar to pour himself  a drink.

"Hey, what's wrong?"  Alex asks, noticing how upset everyone looks.

John Ross looks around at each member of his family.  "Yeah.  You all look like you lost your best friend.  What's goin' on here?"

"We got some bad news today,"  Bobby says.  "Jacob collapsed at school and had to be taken to the hospital."

"He collapsed?"  John Ross asks.

"Is he okay?" Alex asks.

"No,"  says Bobby.

"They did some tests, and..........Jacob has a heart condition,"  Ann says.  "A very serious heart condition.  He's at Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas."

"My God,"  John Ross says.

Sue Ellen's home....the next morning....

While Catlin is having breakfast at their kitchen table, Sue Ellen is on the phone talking to Bobby.  "Yes, Bobby,"  she says.  "Yes, I understand.  No, you take all the time you need.  John Ross and I can handle things at the office.  You just take care of your family.  If there's anything at all you need, or Christopher and Courtney need, don't hesitate to call me or Catlin.  And Bobby, give my love to Christopher, and to that sweet little Jacob.  I'll get by the hospital and see him this afternoon.  Bye, Bobby."  Sue Ellen ends the call and puts her phone down, a worried look on her face.

"Sue Ellen, what's wrong?"  Catlin asks.  "Did I hear you to say Jacob is in the hospital?"

Sue Ellen takes a seat at the table beside him.  "Yes.  Jacob collapsed yesterday at school and had to be taken to the hospital.  Tests showed that he has a very serious heart condition."

"A heart condition?  My God.  But Jacob is so young."

"I know.  He's at Texas Health Presbyterian, and they're running more tests to determine just how serious the condition is.  I can't even imagine what poor Courtney and Christopher are going through."

"Neither can I,"  says Catlin.  "They must be going out of their minds with worry.  How about we go to the hospital this afternoon together to see Jacob, and show our support?"

Sue Ellen looks at him and smiles.  "I think that's a wonderful idea,"  she says as the doorbell rings.  "Now who on Earth could that be at 7:50 in the morning?"

"I dunno.  I wasn't expecting anyone, were you?"

"No."

A moment later, Eric walks into the kitchen.  "Morning,"  he says.

"Well, this is quite a surprise,"  says Catlin.

"Eric, good ,morning, would you like some breakfast?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"Sure, I'd love some, if you don't mind,"  Eric replies, taking a seat at the table.

"Of course not."

"What brings you over so early?"  Catlin asks.

Eric lets out a deep breath.  "Catlin, I've been doing some thinking.  I've been doing a LOT of thinking."

"Oh?  About what?"

"I've decided to sell Love International,"  Eric says.

Catlin looks at him.  "You've decided to what?"

"Eric, you're selling your company?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"Yeah.  That was never really MY company.  It was always Peter Love's company, and, to be honest, I really want to make a clean break from anything having to do with Peter.  I know that he raised me, and until I found out that you were my father, Catlin, Peter was the only father I ever knew, but after the terrible things that he did..........especially murdering my mother........I just want anything that reminds me of him, including Love International."

"I see.  Well, I can certainly understand why you would feel that way,"  says Catlin.  "But what will you do now, if you do sell the company?"

"I........I don't know.  I don't know what I wanna do.  All I DO know it, I don't wanna hold onto Love International.  In fact, I thought about leaving Dallas."

"What?"  Catlin asks.  "Leaving Dallas? Eric, no......."

"Don't worry,"  Eric says.  "That was one of the things I spent so much time thinking about over the past few days.  And, I realize that if I did leave Dallas, where would I go, and what would I do?  All the family I have in the world is right here in Dallas.  You guys, and C.J., and Aunt Donna and the girls."

"Does that mean that you're going to be staying in Dallas, then, even if you do sell the company?"  Sue Ellen asks.

"Yeah, it does."

Catlin looks at his son and smiles.  "Well, I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that.  Eric, you and I are just starting to get to know one another as father and son.  I don't wanna lose that.  So I'm very glad that you've decided to stick around."

"Thank you,"  Eric says.

"And so am I,"  Sue Ellen says with a smile.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....

As Christopher is sitting alone in a waiting room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital that morning, someone hands him a cup of coffee.  Christopher looks up and sees Lucy standing there.  "I figured you might could use this when I saw you sitting in here."

"Yes, thanks,"  Christopher says, taking the coffee.

"How's Jacob?"

Christopher sighs as he rubs his face.  "He's comfortable.  They have him on oxygen to help his breathing.  Mitch and Dr. Eubanks are in examining him now.  Courtney's in there with them, so, I felt like I was just in the way, so I came out here to wait."

"Well, how about I wait with you for a while?"  Lucy asks, taking a seat across from him.

"Thanks, but, you really don't have to."

"I'd like to,"  Lucy says.  "Y'know, Christopher, if you'd like to talk, I'm a good listener, as you already know."

"Thank you, Lucy.  I'm not even sure what to say.  I'm scared.  Real scared, Lucy.  Jacob, he............I love that kid like he's my own son, and I can't imagine ever losing him.  It's weird.  Jacob has only been a part of our lives for a couple of years, and he's only lived with us for a little over a year, but, it feels like he's been in my life since the day he was born."

"I understand,"  Lucy says.  "It's very hard when you see someone you love in pain, especially a child.  But you have to have faith.  Mitch is the best doctor I know, and this cardiologist, this Dr. Greg Eubanks, he's the BEST heart doctor in the state.  Mitch has such high praise for him."

"I know.  And I'm trying to have faith, Lucy, but it's just so hard right now.  Just when everything was starting to go right.  When things had fallen into place.  Courtney and I were finally back on track after a really rough year.  Jacob was happy and doing well in school. And now this happens."

"I know,"  says Lucy.  "It's not fair.  But Christopher, Jacob is getting the best possible care, and you just have to keep believing that he's going to be alright.  I know that's hard, but, having faith is the only thing that's going to get you through the days ahead."

"I'm trying,"  Christopher says.

"I know you are.  Christopher, you are one of the strongest people I know, and you get that strength from your parents.  I believe that kind of strength is learned from your environment, not inherited.  Courtney and Jacob are gonna need that strength of yours now."

Christopher looks at her and nods as Bobby and Ann walk into the room.

"Hi,"  Bobby says.

Ann walks over to Christopher and hugs him.  "How's Jacob this mornin'?"

"He's scared, I think, more than anything else,"  replies Christopher.  "He doesn't understand what's happening to him."

"Has the doctor told you anything different than what he said last night?"  Bobby asks.

"Not yet.  Mitch and the cardiologist are in with Jacob and Courtney now."

"Can I get you anything?"  Lucy asks.

"No, thanks, Lucy, I'm fine.  I do appreciate the talk, though,"  Christopher says.

"Anytime."

"John Ross and Alex both said to tell you they're rootin' for Jacob,"  Bobby says.

"And Michael wanted to stay home from school so he could come see Jacob,"  says Ann.

"You see?"  Lucy asks, placing her hand on Christopher's shoulder.  "The whole family is here for you guys."

Mitch, and another doctor walk into the room, followed by Phyllis and Courtney.   Christopher walks over to them.  "We've run a series of tests on Jacob,"  says the other physician, Dr. Edmund Eubanks.

"And?"  Christopher asks.  "What exactly are we dealing with here?"

"Please, tell us everything,"  says Courtney.

"Jacob has pediatric heart failure,"  Dr. Eubanks replies.

"Heart failure?"  Christopher asks.

"Yes.  Jacob's particular condition is called pump failure, meaning the heart isn't able to pump blood to other parts of the body as it should."

"How could this have happened?"  Phyllis asks.  "Jacob is so young."

"This can be caused by a virus infection that damages otherwise normal heart muscle,"  Mitch replies.  "Or, pump failure can arise from problems with the coronary arteries, preventing effective blood flow to the heart muscle itself. Such issues with the coronary arteries can occur from birth or be the result of infection. The condition could also be inherited.   There's really just no way to know for sure."

"Okay, so now that we know what the problem is, what can be done about it?"  Christopher asks.  "Will he have to be on medication?"

"Unfortunately, the damage to Jacob's heart is too severe to be treated effectively with drugs,"  Dr. Eubanks replies.

"Then......how will you treat it?"  Courtney asks, terrified of the doctor's answer.

Mitch and Dr. Eubanks exchange looks.  "Courtney, Jacob is in end stage pediatric heart failure,"  Mitch replies.

"End stage?"  The frightened mother asks.

"Yes,"  Mitch replies.  "There's only one treatment for Jacob's condition at this point, and that's a heart transplant."

"A heart transplant?"  Bobby asks.

"Yes,"  Dr. Eubanks says.  "Jacob's heart is severely damaged.  Now as Dr. Cooper said, we have no way of knowing for certain what caused his condition.  Usually in children, pump failure is caused by a virus that attacks the heart.  Sometimes, it may have been a virus the child had years ago, and the damage has taken this long to become severe. Has Jacob been ill with a serious viral infection at any time in the last 5 or 6 years?"

"I don't know,"  Courtney says in tears.  "When Jacob was born, I was very young.  I gave my son up for adoption, and I just got him back a little more than a year ago."

"We got Jacob's medical records from his pediatrician in Los Angeles, where he was living with his adoptive parents,"  Christopher says.  "There was nothing in those records about him being seriously ill while they had him."

"But the problem is, Jacob went through several homes in foster care from the time he was an infant,"  Bobby says.

"Yes, he could've had some kind of serious illness that damaged his heart, and we just don't know,"  says Christopher.

"Well, the cause really isn't that important,"  Dr. Eubanks says.  "The important thing is, Jacob desperately needs a new heart.  Now what we can do is put him on a waiting list.  But Jacob may not have that much time to wait."

"Dear God, what are you saying?"  Courtney asks in tears.  "That my son could die?  That, he doesn't have much time left unless he gets a new heart?"

"I'm afraid so, Courtney,"  Mitch says.  "Jacob is in rapid heart failure.  Without his heart being able to pump blood to his brain and other organs, those organs can suffer damage as well.  Eventually, Jacob will suffer organ failure."

"My God, my poor baby,"  Courtney cries.  Christopher embraces his wife.

"Mitch, let me see if I understand this,"  says Lucy.  "If you get a heart, you perform the transplant, and Jacob will be fine?  He'll recover?"

"Best case scenario, yes.."

"Organ transplants are often not that simple,"  Eubanks says.  "There's always the possibility of infection, or of Jacob's body rejecting the organ.  But, heart transplants have proven to be highly successful with advances in this field, and especially in children.  More than 54% of pediatric heart patients who undergo a transplant survive 15 years or more past surgery.  And of those who survive past 15 years, more than 80% are in good health, with good heart function.  The first hurdle, however, will be finding a heart from a matching donor in time, and that's often the most difficult thing.  People waiting for a heart transplant are assigned a status code, which indicates how urgently they need a heart.  Now, given Jacob's young age and  the severity of his case, his status code will be 1A, which is urgent need.  That will place him near the top of the list."

"How long could it be before a heart is found?"  Christopher asks.

"The wait time varies,"  Dr. Eubanks replies.  "The availability of a donor with matching blood type and body size will affect the wait time."

"So, what are we supposed to do in the meantime?"  Courtney asks.  "Just wait?"

"Unfortunately, that's all that can be done until a matching donor heart is found," Mitch says.  "We're moving Jacob to the pediatric care unit here at the hospital.  We'll be giving him medications to force his heart to pump more efficiently."

"I thought you said that medications wouldn't help,"  says Christopher.

"They won't cure the problem, Mr. Ewing,"  says Dr. Eubanks.  "There are medications that will keep Jacob's heart working for a while, and that will hopefully buy us some time until a donor heart is found.  I'm really very sorry.  I wish that I had better news for you all.  We're going to have Jacob moved to PCU, and then you can all see him  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to begin the process to have Jacob put on the transplant waiting list."  Dr. Eubanks leaves the room.

"I'll be consulting very closely with Dr. Eubanks,"  Mitch says.  "He's the absolute best pediatric cardiologist in the state, so Jacob is in good hands."

"Thanks, Mitch,"  Christopher says as he continues to embrace his wife as she cries.

The Krebbs Ranch....

Despite it being a typically cold winter morning, a shirtless Ben is closing an iron gate and locking it after coming out of one of the pastures at the Krebbs Ranch.  As he is chaining the gate and locking it, Gavin's truck drives up and comes to a stop.  He gets out of his truck and walks over to his brother.  "Ben,"  he says.

"Gavin."

"Man, it can't be no more'n 50 degrees out here,"  Gavin says.  "Where's your shirt?"

"I spilled some oil on it.  I got another one in the truck,"  Ben replies.  "What are you doin' out here?"

"I stopped up at the house, and Conner said that you were out here.  I need to talk to you."

Ben shakes his head.  "Here we go again.  Last time you said you needed to talk to me, you told me Dad was back in town.  So what's the bad news this time?"

"I'm afraid this is some real bad news this time."

Ben looks at his older brother.  "What is it, man?  What's wrong?"

Gavin walks over to Ben's truck, reaches through the open window and takes out Ben's extra shirt, tossing it to him.  "Put this on,"  Gavin tells him.  "Our family's got enough goin' on right now.  Sure don't want you catchin' pneumonia on top of everything else."

"Dude, what are you talkin' about?"  Ben asks.  He quickly puts on his shirt.

"Jacob's in the hospital, man.  I would've called you last night when I found out but I wanted to come out here and tell you myself in person.  Plus I wanted to find out what was goin' on with him before I told you."

"What's wrong with him?"  Ben asks.  "Is it serious?"

Gavin nods.  "Yeah.  It's real bad, man.  Jacob has a bad heart condition.  His heart's failing."

"What?  No, man, that can't.........he's just a kid."

"I know.  He passed out at school yesterday during recess and they had to rush him to the hospital in an ambulance."

"Oh, wow, man. I can't believe it,"  Ben says.  "He looked so healthy."

"Yeah, he did.  Just goes to show that you never know what's goin' on with anyone."

"The other day when I went ridin' with him, he was havin' trouble breathin' then.  Said he didn't feel good.  I guess that's why.  Poor kid.  How's Courtney?"

"Not good, Mom said.  She's havin' a real hard time with this.  I think she and Christopher could use a visit sometime this afternoon.  Maybe we could swing by the hospital and see Jacob."

Ben nods.  "Yeah.  Yeah, I'll do that.  Gavin, what about Dad?"

"What about him?"  Gavin asks.

"If he's still in Dallas, don't you think he has a right to know?  Jacob IS his grandson."

"Dad doesn't even know Jacob.  Besides, he's the last person in the world Courtney wants, or NEEDS around right now.  Well, look, I gotta get back to Southfork.  Call me later, and we'll ride to the hospital together."

"Yeah, I will,"  Ben says.  He watches as Gavin gets back into his truck and drives away.

Stevens-Beaumont Oil....later....

Ashley walks into the offices of Stevens-Beaumont Oil early in the afternoon.  "Can I help you?"  Asks the secretary.

"Yes, is Clay Beaumont in?"

"Yes, he is.  Do you have an appointment?"

"No, I don't.  But, I'm his sister,"  Ashley says.

The secretary smiles.  "I'll let him know you're here,"  she says.  She buzzes Clay's office, "Mr. Beaumont, your sister is here."

"Great, send her in,"  Clay says.

"You may go right in."

"Thanks,"  Ashley says with a smile.  Walking over to Clay's office, she knocks on his door, then walks in.  "Hi,"  she says.

"Hey, there,"  Clay says, greeting her with a kiss on the cheek.  "This is a nice surprise."

"Well, I haven't talked to you in a few days, so I wanted to come by and see how you're doing.  I'm really glad to see that you're back at work in full force."

"Well, I couldn't just sit around feeling sorry for myself from now on, so I figured it was time.  I'm actually very glad that you stopped by.  I was gonna call you.  I have something I wanted to share with you."

"Oh, well, do tell,"  says Ashley.

"I had lunch with your ex yesterday,"  Clay says.

"You mean Shawn?  Why?"

"Yep.  He said he wants to buy Stevens-Beaumont Oil."

"He WHAT?"  Ashley asks.

"He wants the company for Westar,"  Clay says.  "He hasn't actually made me a monetary offer yet, but he did offer me a seat on the Westar board."

"Wow.  So what'd you tell him?"

"I haven't given him my answer yet,"  Clay says.  "I told him I needed a few days to think about it."

"And what are you gonna tell him?  Are you gonna sell the company to him?"

"Ash, I REALLY don't know what I'm gonna do.  I don't even know what I wanna do at this point.  This whole thing, taking this company away from Cliff Barnes and his son was all about my Mom's revenge.  It was all about her.  And now, she's gone, so, I don't know if I wanna continue running this company or not.  And a seat on the board at Westar.........that's REALLY huge.  Westar is the largest oil company in Texas.  I'd be a stockholder in Westar, too."

"Sounds pretty awesome,"  Ashley says. "And it sounds like Shawn is doing really well for himself."

"It seems so.  But I'm still not sure if I can trust the guy.  I mean, there's what he did to you.  And he's so sure of himself, so cocky."

Ashley looks at him and smiles.  "Yeah, sounds a lot like another guy I know," she says.

Clay lets out a slight laugh.  "Yeah.  I guess so, but that's just my point.  I wouldn't have trusted ME when I first came to Dallas and was so sure of myself, so why should I trust a guy who acts just like I did back then?"

"Clay, I can't tell you what to do.  This offer sounds very attractive.  But please, just be careful.  Shawn isn't the same guy I use to know.  He's not the guy I had started to fall in love with.  He's changed, he's become.......darker.  I think maybe his grandfather is the reason for that."

"You mean Jeremy Wendell?"  Clay asks.

"Yes.  From everything I've heard about him, Jeremy Wendell is a very dangerous man when he's crossed, and if you get involved with Westar.......if his grandfather is pulling Shawn's strings, then I'd hate to see you get caught in the crossfire."

Clay nods as he thinks about what Ashley has said.

Sharon Smith's apartment....

Sharon Smith gets off the elevator down the hall from her apartment carrying a bag of groceries in one hand.  Walking to her apartment, she unlocks the door, then goes in.

"Hello, Sharon,"  Andrew Murray's voice startles her.  Turning around, she sees Andrew sitting comfortably on her sofa.

"How in the hell did you get in here?"  Sharon angrily asks.

"I picked your lock.  It was pretty easy, too.  Mark taught me how to do that years ago."

"What are you doing here?"

Andrew stands and walks over to her.  "Sharon, did you forget?  You and I had an appointment.  You were supposed to have that other twenty grand for me today."

"Andrew....."

"Okay, now ya see, I don't like the way you just said my name.  Kinda makes me think you DON'T have my money, and I just don't like that at all.  So please tell me that aint true."

Sharon reaches into her purse and pulls out an envelope.  After a brief hesitation, she hands it to him.  Andrew takes the envelope and opens it, revealing a large sum of cash.  Andrew begins to count it.  Once finished, he looks at her.

"There's only ten thousand here,"  he says.

"It's all I could get."

"Well it simply isn't good enough,"  says Andrew.

"I sold almost everything I had of value to raise that."

"Well, then I guess you're just gonna have to get a loan, because I want that other ten grand, Sharon.  You really must not think I mean business.  If I don't get that money, I'm going straight to Shawn and tell him the truth."

"You bastard.  You do that and I swear, I'll kill you."

Andrew moves closer to Sharon and angrily grabs her by the wrist and begins twisting it, causing Sharon to wince in pain.  "I don't take kindly to threats, Sharon.  Now I'm giving you one last chance.  You get that other ten grand for me by tomorrow evening, or Shawn is gonna know the truth that I'm his father."  Andrew releases Sharon from his grip, and she rubs her wrist.  "Tomorrow, Sharon,"  he says.  Andrew walks past her to the door.  Opening the door,he pauses a moment and looks at her.  Without saying another word to her, he leaves.

"My God, what am I going to do?"  Sharon asks after he leaves.  She rubs her throbbing wrist.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....later....

Hooked up to an I.V. and with an oxygen tube in his nose, Jacob is sitting up in bed in his hospital room that afternoon playing a hand held video game when Courtney walks into the room carrying a bag.  "I got your ice cream,"  she says.  "The doctor said it's okay for you to have this."

"Thanks,"  Jacob says as she pulls out a cup of ice cream and hands it to him.

"How do you feel, baby?"  Courtney asks.

"I dunno,"  Jacob says with a sigh.  "Am I gonna die?"

Courtney is completely taken aback by the boy's question.  She reaches over and touches his arm.  "No, Jacob.  Of course not."

"But there's something wrong with my heart, right?"

"Yes.  You have a heart condition.  But Mitch and Dr. Eubanks are doing everything they can to help you."

"That's why I always got so short of breath?"  Jacob asks.

"Yeah,"  Courtney says.  "Sweety, how long had this been happening?  How long had you been feeling short of breath whenever you ran or did anything physical?"

"I dunno.  Few months, I guess."

"Jacob, why didn't you tell us?"

"It wasn't that bad at first.  Then it just kept getting worse."

Christopher walks into the room.  "Hey,"  he says with a smile.  "Do you feel up for a visitor, because I have someone here who really wants to see you."

"Who?"  Jacob asks.

Smiling, Christopher motions to someone in the hall, and Michael walks into the room on his crutches.  "Hey, man,"  he says.

"Hey,"  Jacob says.

"Courtney, how about we step out and let these guys have some time together?"  Christopher.

"Are you sure it's alright?"

"Yeah, I asked Mitch."

"Okay,"  Courtney says.  "I'll be back soon."  She stands from her seat beside the bed, leans down and kisses Jacob on the forehead, then leaves the room with Christopher.

Michael walks over and takes a seat beside Jacob's bed.  "How you feel?"  He asks.

"Kinda nauseous."

"Everybody at school was askin' about ya today,"  says Michael.

"Oh, yeah?"

"Yeah, most of the kids, and even the teachers.  They wanted to know when you'd be back and everything."  Michael pauses for a moment and lets out a deep sigh.  "Jacob, I'm really sorry.  I feel like this is all my fault."

"YOUR fault?"  Jacob asks.  "How is it your fault that I got sick?"

"You had that fight with Casey Myers because of me."

"That's not why I got sick.  Something's wrong with my heart.  That's why I was always getting out of breath whenever I would run or get tired."

"My Dad said that you're probably gonna have to have surgery,"  Michael says.

"Yeah."

"Are you scared?"  Michael asks.

Jacob nods.  "Yeah.  I'm real scared."

"You're gonna be okay, man.  I just know you are,"  Michael says.

Southfork....that night....

Christopher is in the den at Southfork that night pouring himself a drink when John Ross walks into the foyer.  Seeing his cousin in the den, John Ross walks into the room.  "Christopher,"  he says.

"John Ross."

"I think I'll join you,"  John Ross says as he walks to the bar.  He begins to fix himself a drink.  "How's little Jacob doin'?"

"About the same.  We still haven't told him everything about his condition just yet."

"Courtney still at the hospital?"

"Yeah.  She's not gonna leave him.  I just came home to grab myself and Courtney a change of clothes, and then I'm goin' back."

"Y'know, Christopher, you and I, we haven't always seen eye to eye on a lot of things, but, in the end, we ARE family,"  John Ross says.  "And I want you to know that, if you need anything, anything at all, even if it's just to talk, I'm here for you."

Christopher looks at his cousin and nods.  "Thank you, John Ross, that really means a lot to me."

"That's alright.  I've been where you are right now.  Last year when Alex was havin' those headaches after the accident, and when he had to have brain surgery, that was the most scared that I think I've ever been in my life.  To know that my son was facin' a life threatening situation, and there was not a damned thing I could do about it..........it made me feel so helpless.  Like nothin' was in my control.  So I know what you're goin' through right now."

"Thanks, John Ross,"  Christopher says.  "You're right, I feel helpless right now, like there's nothing I can do to help either Courtney or Jacob."

"Well, believe it or not, you are doin' somethin', just by bein' there,"  John Ross says as Sue Ellen and Catlin walk in.

"Christopher,"  Sue Ellen says as she walks over to her nephew.  "Catlin and I just came from visiting Jacob at the hospital.  I'm so sorry for everything that's happening."

"Thank you."

"Christopher, is there anything we can do?"  Catlin asks.  "Anything you need?"

"No.  Just, if you happen to believe in prayer, we could sure use some of that."

"You got it."

"Well, I just came home to get some clothes and things,"  says Christopher.  "I'm headed back to the hospital."

"If there's anything we can do, call,"  Sue Ellen says.

"I will,"  Christopher says.  He gives his aunt a hug, then leaves the room.

"Poor Christopher,"  Sue Ellen says.  "He loves Jacob so much.  This is so unfair."

"Yes it is,"  John Ross agrees.

Bobby, Ann, Lucas, and Heather walk into the room.  "Hello, Sue Ellen, Catlin,"  says Bobby.

"Hi, Bobby,"  Catlin says.  "Sue Ellen and I came over to see if there's anything we can do."

"We went by the hospital to visit Jacob on our way over,"  Sue Ellen says.

"I don't think there's anything anybody can do except just pray, and wait,"  Ann says.  "I hope you two can stay for dinner."

Catlin smiles.  "Well, we were hoping you would ask."

"Can I fix anybody a drink?"  Lucas asks, walking to the bar.

"I'll take a scotch,"  Heather says.

"I'll have the same,"  says Bobby.

"Aunt Sue Ellen?  Catlin?"

"Scotch for me,"  replies Catlin.

"I'd love a club soda,"  Sue Ellen says as Krystina walks into the room holding baby Ellie.

"Hi, everyone,"  she says.

"Krystina,"  Sue Ellen says with a smile.

John Ross walks over to his wife, surprised to see her.  "Darlin', what on Earth are you doin' home?"

"Yeah, Krystina, I thought you were stayin' in Denver until Thursday,"  Heather says.

"I was, but when John Ross told me on the phone today about Jacob, I decided to come home early."

"Well, I sure am glad to see you and my little princess,"  John Ross says.

"So am I,"  says Sue Ellen.  "Can I hold my granddaughter?"

"Of course,"  Krystina replies, handing the baby to Sue Ellen.

"Oh, my goodness, you're cold,"  Sue Ellen says as she takes the child into her arms.

"Yeah, it's freezing out there.  John Ross, can you bring in my bags?"

"Sure thing."  John Ross smiles at his wife, then leaves the room, grabbing his coat from the rack in the foyer.  Krystina follows him.

A moment later, John Ross and Krystina walk into the patio and make their way to Krystina's car in the parking area. "John Ross, I need to talk to you.  I came home because of Jacob, but that's not the only reason."

"Okay, so what else?"

"John Ross, why didn't you tell me that you went ahead with that deal with my brother even after I warned you that Adam couldn't be trusted?"

"Adam tell you about that, did he?"  John Ross asks.

"He mentioned it, but I think he thought that I already knew about it. Which makes me wonder why I didn't know.  Why didn't you tell me about this?"

"Krystina, I knew how you felt about me doin' business with Adam, and, I just didn't wanna worry, that's all."

"You sure it was because you didn't want me to try and talk you out of it? John Ross, I know my brother, and you don't.  Adam is sneaky, he's ruthless, and he's a born liar.  My father didn't trust him, his own son.  I can't tell you how many times Adam betrayed my father's trust over the years."

"Darlin', this deal with ColbyCo was a win-win.  I checked the geological reports on those tracts out myself."

"And what are you gonna do when Bobby and Sue Ellen find out you went behind their backs and signed that deal with Adam against their wishes?"  Krystina asks.

"Pretty soon, the profits from those California wells are gonna start rollin' in, and when Uncle Bobby and my Mama see how much money Ewing Oil is makin' off this, they'll thank me."

"Thank you?  For lying to them?"

"Ewing Oil is all about profit.  Once they see that I've made Ewing Oil millions and millions of dollars richer, they'll forget about my little........oversight in telling them."

Krystina shakes her head.  "Alright, John Ross.  I won't say another word.  But you can't say I didn't warn you about Adam."

"Krystina, I love you for lookin' out for me, and I appreciate it.  But I know what I'm doin'.  I've got somebody who's keepin' me abreast of every aspect of the ColbyCo deal.  Nothing is gonna go wrong.  Trust me." John Ross takes her suitcase and the baby's bag from the trunk of Krystina's car.  He kisses his wife, then takes the bag to the house.  Krystina lets out a deep sigh, worried that John Ross was going to end up getting screwed over by Adam.

Pamela's apartment....the next morning....

Justin opens the door of Pamela's apartment the next morning and finds Jay there.  "Well, Jay, come in,"  he says.

"Thank you, and good morning,"  Jay says, walking into the apartment.  "Hope I didn't get you guys up."

"No, not at all, we were just havin' breakfast.  Come on in the kitchen."

Jay follows Justin into the kitchen, where Pamela is feeding breakfast to Hunter and Randall.  "Jay, good morning,"  she says.

"Morning, Pamela."

"Have some breakfast?"

"That bacon sure looks good."

"Help yourself,"  Justin says, taking a seat at the table.

"Thank you."

"What brings you over this early?"  Pamela asks.

Jay takes a seat at the table, and takes two pieces of bacon from a plate on the table.  "I wanted to stop by on my way to the office and give Justin the good news."

"Well, I could sure use some,"  says Justin.  "What's the news?"

"I really think I might be able to help Tim Martin.  I've spent the last couple days combing through the transcripts of Tim's trial, and there are some things that bother me."

 "Yeah, like what?"  Justin asks.

"The public defender Tim had, this guy didn't even try to defend this kid to the best of his ability.  And he's facing disbarment by the Texas Bar Association as we speak."

"Disbarment, for what?"  Justin asks.

"Unethical practices and taking kickbacks,"  Jay replies.  "Reading Tim's trial transcripts, this attorney only called two witnesses on Tim's behalf, he rarely objected to the prosecution in court.  Tim's family was strapped for cash, and they just couldn't afford a good attorney for him.  And the poor kid got screwed."

"Jay, do you think you could get him a new trial on these grounds?"

"I'm damned sure gonna try.  A new trial may not have any better outcome, but, at least Tim deserves a better defense than he got in his original trial, and I can't believe that judge didn't see that.  I'm gonna talk to Tim's parents today and file a motion for a new trial. If that doesn't work, then I'll file for an appeal."

"Jay, if you could do that, it would really mean a lot to me.  Tim doesn't deserve to be in a place like Harris C.I."

"Well, I can't make any promises, but I'm gonna do my best to help this kid,"  Jay says.

Braddock Elementary School....

As Michael is making his way down the hall at Braddock Elementary that morning, Casey Myers comes around a corner from another hallway and steps in front of him.

"Ewing,"  Casey says.

"Casey, what do you want?"

"How's your cousin?"

"He's got something wrong with his heart..  Why do you even care?"

"You didn't say anything to anyone about that fight, did you?"  Casey asks.

"No."

"Good, you'd better not have, if you know what's good for.  Look, I'm sorry about what happened to your cousin, but that wasn't my fault, and you'd better not get me in trouble because of it.  Understand?"

Michael remains silent as he looks at the other boy.  After a few seconds, an impatient Casey takes hold of Michael's shirt collar.  "I said do you understand?"

Michael nods.

"Good, just remember that,"  Casey says.

"Hey, what's goin' on here, fellas?"  Asks a male teacher as he walks up to the boys.

"Nothing, Mr. Parker,"  Casey quickly responds.  "I was just asking Michael here how his cousin Jacob is doing."

"I see,"  Mr. Parker says.  "Well, you can do that on your own time, Myers.  Your classes are over on the 7th grade hall, and unless you wanna be late, I suggest you get a move on."

"Yes, sir,"  Casey says.  He then looks at Michael.  "We'll finish talking later,"  he says, then walks away, Michael watching as Casey heads down the 7th grade hallway.

"Michael, is everything alright?"  The teacher asks.

"Just fine, Mr. Parker."

"That Myers kid, is he messing with you?  Harassing you?"

"No,"  Michael says sadly.

"Okay, well, I just want you to know, if you ever do have a problem with him or any of the other kids, I want you to come to me, is that clear?"

Michael looks at him and nods.  "Yes, Mr. Parker."

"Good.  Okay, now you go on to class."

Michael again nods at the teacher and proceeds down the hall on his crutches as the concerned teacher watches him.

Ewing Oil....

Sly buzzes John Ross's office.  "John Ross, Bum Jones is here to see you."

"Thank ya, Sly, send him in."  John Ross stands from his seat and walks over to his bar.  He pours a drink for himself, then pours one for Bum as the private detective walks into the office.

"John Ross,"  Bum says.

"Got anything new for me on Allison Jones and her sister?"  John Ross asks, handing Bum the other drink.

"As a matter of fact, I do have some interesting information on Allison's sister's husband."

"Let's have it."

"Karen's husband was Jeffrey Myers.  He had his own business here in Dallas.  He owned a hardware store that he inherited from his father.  He and Karen Jones were married in November of 2004, but the marriage was rocky because Karen still hadn't outgrown her rather wild ways at the time of the marriage.  Their son Casey was born in the spring of 2006, and after the child was born, Karen seemed to settle down some.  She became a responsible wife and mother.  Myers, on the other hand, started to drink heavily."

"After his son was born?"  John Ross asks.  "Well, that doesn't make sense.  Birth of a child is usually the kinda thing to make a man happy, not drive him to the bottle.  Unless, of course, the baby caused a financial burden on him."

"Well, that doesn't seem to be the case,"  says Bum.  "For the first three years after his son was born, Myers's hardware store thrived.  It wasn't until the middle of the big recession that the store started to fall on hard times, around the middle of 2010."

"Then why'd he start drinkin' heavily?"

"Well, according to Myers's business associate, a guy who worked for him at the store, Jeffrey had sort of a close relationship with his wife's sister, Allison.  The guy I talked to, David Harris, said that several times Allison called Myers at the store, and every time he spoke to her or met with her, Myers became more depressed."

John Ross smiles.  "Well, now.  Kinda sounds like maybe Allison was messin' around with her sister's husband."

"I was thinkin' the same thing,"  Bum says.  "That might also explain why Allison went to such lengths to provide for her sister and nephew after Jeffrey Myers's suicide, even buyin' 'em a house in Braddock.  Maybe she felt guilty."

"You think maybe Allison drove Myers to kill himself?  Or maybe his affair with her, IF that's what was goin' on?"

"Could be.  According to David Harris, Myers and Allison spent a lot of time together in the year before his death.  Sure sounds like an affair was goin' on."

John Ross nods.  "Alright.  I think we're definitely on the right track here.  If Allison was havin' an affair with her sister's husband, and that affair was the reason Jeffrey Myers took his own life.......then chances are Karen doesn't even know about that.  And I'll bet Allison would do just about anything to keep her sister from findin' out.  Or anybody else, for that matter. Bum, keep diggin'.  Try and find out if, in fact, Allison Jones and Jeffrey Myers were sleepin' together."

"I'll try, John Ross, but that might be a little hard,"  Bum says.  "This was almost 8 years ago, and unless somebody knew about the affair and would talk, I don't know how we'd prove it."

"Y'know what?  Maybe we don't have to.  Maybe the suspicion that the two were havin' an affair would be enough to stop Allison Jones."

"What do you mean, John Ross?"

"If I went to Allison and told her what I suspected, her reaction ought to be enough to give her away.  If she calls my bluff, then I win and I could keep her off that commission."

"And what if she doesn't call your bluff?"  Bum asks.

John Ross looks at his friend.  "I've got a gut feelin' that she will.  Bum, I believe Allison and Myers were lovers.  And if they weren't, then they obviously shared somethin' between 'em, some.........secret.  I'd stake my life on it.  You keep diggin'.  And I'll take care of Allison Jones."  John Ross smiles deviously as he takes a sip of his drink.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....late afternoon...

Courtney and Christopher are sitting in the cafeteria at the hospital that afternoon eating a late lunch when Lucy walks in.  Seeing the couple, she walks over to them.  "Hey, you two,"  Lucy says, taking a seat across from them.

"Hi, Lucy,"  says Christopher.

"How's Jacob?"

"He's asleep right now,"  replies Courtney.  "My Mom is sitting with him, to give us a chance to come and get something to eat."

"Good, I'm glad,"  says Lucy.  "You both need to keep up your strength.  Listen, guys, umm, I hate to asks, but, I'm just curious........have you contacted Jacob's biological father to let him know what's happening?"

Christopher and Courtney exchange looks.  "No, we haven't,"  Courtney says.  "With everything that's been going on, I haven't even thought about it."

"Don't you think you should?"  Lucy asks.  "After all, he IS Jacob's biological father."

"Joseph Gioberti has never laid eyes on Jacob,"  says Christopher.  "He's never ,met him."

"Christopher, I think Lucy's right,"  Courtney says.  "Joseph does have a right to know.  I should call him."

"Well, I'm gonna be heading home soon,"  Lucy says.  "If you guys need anything, just call me.  Even if you just want someone to come and sit with Jacob for a while."

Courtney reaches across the table and takes her hand.  "Thank you, Lucy."

"You're welcome.  I'll see you both later,"  Lucy says.  She stands from her seat, walks over to Christopher and kisses him.  "I love you."

"Love you, too,"  Christopher says, and Lucy turns and walks away.   "You're really gonna call Joseph?"  He asks his wife.

"Yes.  He does have a right to know what's going on with his son.  Joseph has respected us enough to keep his distance for all these months, so we owe him that much.  I'll be back in a few minutes."

Christopher nods to her as Courtney gets up from the table and leaves the cafeteria.  Christopher lets out a deep sigh as he buries his face in his hands.

Meanwhile, Courtney walks down the hall, takes her cell phone from her pocket and dials Joseph Gioberti's number in California.  She waits for an answer.

The Gioberti home, Tuscany Valley, California....

Joseph Gioberti is just coming out of his bathroom and into his bedroom of his family's home in the Tuscany Valley, California, when his cell phone begins to ring.  Joseph walks over and picks the phone up from the table beside the bed looks at it.  Seeing it's Courtney calling, Joseph quickly answers.  "Hello?"

"Joseph, it's Courtney."

"Courtney,"  Joseph says.  "Well, this is a surprise.  Umm, what's going on?  Is something wrong?"

Dallas....

"Yes, Joseph, I'm afraid something is wrong,"  Courtney replies.  "I have some news about Jacob.  He's in the hospital, Joseph."

"The hospital?"  Joseph asks.  "My God, what happened?  Is he sick?  Is it serious?"

"Yes.  I'm afraid it's very serious."

Tuscany Valley, California....

Joseph listens with a worried look on his face as Courtney explains Jacob's condition to him.  "Oh my God,"  he says.  "Courtney, is there anything that I can do?"

"No,"  Courtney replies.  "All any of us can do is wait until a suitable donor heart is found."

"And what if they can't find a match?"  Joseph asks as his father, Cole Gioberti, walks into the room.  Cole pauses and listens at the door to his son's end of the conversation.  "Courtney, I'm coming to Dallas,"  Joseph says.  "I don't care.  I can be there.  Courtney, I'm not gonna argue with you about this.  I'm coming.  I'm catching the first available flight."  Joseph ends the call and puts down his phone.

"Joseph, what was that about going to Dallas?"  Cole asks his son.  "What's wrong?"

"That was Courtney Ewing,"  Joseph says, standing to his feet.  "Jacob is in the hospital."

"My God, what happened?"

"Dad, it's.......it's his heart,"  Joseph replies, fighting back tears.  "My son has a heart condition that could kill him.  I have to go to Dallas."

"Alright.  I'm coming with you,"  Cole says.  He walks over to Joseph and places a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Allison Jones's office....

Allison is working at her desk that afternoon when her secretary buzzes her office.  "Ms. Jones, John Ross Ewing is here to see you."

"Tell him to go away, I'm busy."  Allison tells the secretary.

"He insists on seeing you.  Says it's important."

Allison hesitates a ,moment.  "Alright, Grace.  Send Mr. Ewing in,"  she finally says.  Allison stands from her seat as

John Ross walks in.  "John Ross, what do you want?"  She asks.  "I'm very busy."

"Oh, I'm sure you are."

"Then say whatever it is you came here to say, and get out."

"Alright, I'll just do that,"  says John Ross.  "Why don't you and I have a little talk about your late brother-in-law, Jeffrey Myers?"

Allison looks at him in shock upon hearing the name of her brother-in-law.  "What about him?"

"He killed himself seven years ago, didn't he?"

"Yes.  So?  That's pretty common knowledge."

John Ross smiles.  "And it is also common knowledge that you and your sister's husband were also carryin' on behind Karen's back and your husband's back?"

"I have NO idea what you're talking about.  And you can leave my office, or I'll call building security to have you thrown out."

"But you're not going to,"  John Ross says, walking over to her.  "I have it from a very reliable source that you and Jeffrey Myers had a number of clandestine meetings, secret phone calls, things like that, and every time Myers met with your or spoke to you, the poor man was extremely depressed.  So, somethin' was obviously goin' on between you and your brother-in-law."

"My brother-in-law is NONE of your damned business, and how DARE you pry into my personal life!"

"Well, I'm makin' it my business, Allison.  And the way you're actin' right now........nervous, scared, even........leads me to believe that I'm right.  You and Jeffrey Myers were lovers, or at the very least, shared some deep dark secret.  Maybe you were blackmailin' the poor bastard about somethin'.  But whatever it is, I can see in your eyes that I have got you absolutely TERRIFIED that this secret is gonna come out.  Scared your sister's gonna find out about you and her hubby?"

"What is it you want?"  Allison angrily asks.

"Now, that's what I like to hear,"  says John Ross.  "I want the formation of that Oil Regulatory Commission stopped."

"I can't do that.  This is Senator Bill Watson's baby.  He's the one behind the formation of the ORC."

"Well, I don't give a damn who's idea the ORC is, I want it stopped, and you're gonna do that for me."

"And if I can't?"  Allison asks.

"Well, if you can't, then your sister Karen, and everybody else, is gonna find out about you and Jeffrey Myers.  It'd be a real shame if a new probe was opened into why that poor man took his own life. especially just hours after his last meeting with you.  I expect to hear from you by the middle of next week with news that the ORC is dead in the water.  And then we can all live happily ever after."  John Ross walks to the door and opens it to leave.  After a short pause, he turns to Allison and smiles.  "Oh, and, you have a real nice day, Allison,"  he says, then leaves.

After John Ross is gone, Allison sits down at her desk again.  As he begins to cry, she buries her face in her hands.  "Oh my God,"  she says to herself.  Picking up her cell phone from the desk, she looks at it.  After composing herself, she dials a number and taps her fingers on the desk as she impatiently waits for an answer, which comes after the fourth ring.  "It's Allison,"  she says to the person on the other end of the line.  "I need to see you as soon as possible,  Tonight.  I don't care what your plans are, BREAK them.  This is urgent.  John Ross Ewing is what this is all about.  He's asking questions about me, and about Jeffrey. No, YOU started this whole thing.  I wanna see you tonight.  We have to talk about how we're going to stop John Ross Ewing from finding out our little secret, because I assure you.. ............I will NOT go to prison for this by myself.  If I go down, then you'd better damned well believe I'm takin' you with me."

Perry's Steakhouse And Grille....evening....

Eric and Donna Love walk into Perry's that evening, where the hostess greets them.  "Good evening, Ms. Love, how are you?"

"I'm fine, Susan, and how are you?"

"I'm great.  This way to your table."  Susan leads Donna and Eric to their table, where they take their seats.  "Daniel will be your server.  He'll be with you in a ,moment.  What would you like to drink?"

"I'll have white wine,"  Donna replies.

"I'll have the same,"  says Eric.

Susan smiles.  "Coming right up,"  she says, and walks away.

Donna looks at him and smiles.  "This is nice.  I'm so glad that you asked me to have dinner with you tonight.  I don't see nearly enough of you these days."

"I know, and I'm sorry about that, Aunt Donna.  Love International keeps me pretty busy."

"I know.  It also must be adding a lot of stress to your life.  You're getting quite a bit of gray hair for someone so young."

"Oh, yeah,"  Eric says, touching his hair.  "25-years-old and already going gray.  But you're right, I have been under a lot of stress lately.  Aunt Donna, I need to talk to you."

"Of course,"  Donna says.  "Darling, you know you can always talk to me about anything.  Now what's troubling you."

Before Eric can reply to her question, Daniel Cooper comes over to their table.  "Good evening,"  Daniel says as he places two glasses of white wine on the table.  "My name is Daniel and I'll be your server this evening.  Are you guys ready to order, or do you need a few minutes?"

"I'm all ready,"  says Donna.

"Me, too,"  Eric says.

"Ma'am?"  Daniel says.

"I'll have the Filet Mignon,"  Donna says.  "8 0z."

"And what type of salad?"

"Caesar."

"And you, sir?"  Daniel asks turning to Daniel.

"Sir?"  Eric asks.  "Uh, yeah.  I'll have the Chargrilled salmon, with a Caesar salad."

"I'll have those out for you soon,"  Daniel says, taking their menus.

"Thank you,"  Donna says as Daniel walks away.

Eric shakes his head.  "Well, the kid called me 'sir.'  Maybe I should seriously think about buying some hair dye on the way home."

Donna laughs at the comment.  "Sweetheart, just look at that little bit of gray as a trace of wisdom.  Now, before that young man interrupted, you were about to tell me what was bothering you."

"I've been doing a lot of thinking over the past few days,"  Eric says.  "And, I've decided that I'm gonna sell Love International."

"You're going to sell the company?"  Donna asks.  "I see.  Darling, what prompted this sudden decision?"

"It's not sudden, Aunt Donna.  I've actually been thinking about this for a while now.  Love International was Peter's company, and..........and while I tried to take the reigns of the company and run it, I could never get out of the back of my mind that it's STILL his company.  And, I really need to distance myself from Peter and everything that reminds me of him."

"Distance yourself?"

"Yes.  Aunt Donna, I know Peter's your brother, but he murdered my mother in cold blood and framed Sue Ellen for the crime.  I can't forgive him for that."

"And I understand that,"  says Donna.  "Eric, darling, I know that Peter hurt you, a LOT.  I know my brother did a lot of damage to a lot of people.  But he WAS the only father you ever knew.  And some of the blame for everything that happen lays with Brittany.  She lied to Peter, and lied to Catlin for years."

"She still didn't deserve to be stabbed to death by Peter,"  Eric says.

Donna sighs.  "I know that."

"Aunt Donna, look, I didn't ask you to dinner to discuss Peter Love.  I did ask you here to offer you the first option to buy Love International."

"What?  You want to sell Love International to ME?"

"Yes,"  Eric says.  "I just figured maybe you'd wanna keep the company in the family and keep the name.  Besides, you haven't been doing much since you've been living in Dallas, and Love International would give you something.  Aunt Donna, I've always heard that you are a wonderful, smart businesswoman.  You used to work at Hudson Enterprises, right?  And the TV station in Bay City you owned?  Not to mention that club you use to own, uh, what was it, the........."

"The Harbor Club, in Bay City, yes,"  Donna says.

"So you definitely have the business experience and savvy to run Love International."

"What makes you think that I would want to get back into the business world, especially at this stage of my life?"

"Because I think you're bored and you need something to do,."  says Eric.  "Tell me if I'm wrong.  But with Bridget and Michelle all grown up now and going to college at SMU, and Marley in Bay City most of the time, what do you have to do with your time, besides lunch at the country club every day?"

Donna looks at him and smiles.  "Well, you are a very perceptive young man, that's for sure.  And you're right.  I don't have much to fill my time, and I have been getting a little bored.  I hardly even see the girls these days.  They're either busy with school, or with their boyfriends."

"Alright, then, so, take me up on my offer.  I'll sell Love International to you at a very reasonable price.  You'd have something to do, and you'd be keeping the company in the family."

"And what would you do after you sold it?"  Donna asks.  "Join Catlin and his son at Catlin Oil?"

"I don't know what I wanna do.  I doubt I'll be joining Catlin Oil, at least not anytime soon.  So how about it?  Do you need some time to think about it?"

"Actually.......no, I don't.  Eric, my answer is yes.  I would love to buy Love International from you and run it myself."

Eric smiles.  "Aunt Donna, that's wonderful.  Thank you,"  he says as he and Donna toast.

A restaurant in Dallas....

Allison Jones walks into a burger restaurant in Dallas that evening.  She looks around the place until she spots the person she has come here to meet.  She walks over and takes a seat across from the person.

"You asked me to meet you here,"  the woman sitting across from Allison says.  "Least you could do is be on time."

"Sorry, I had a  conference call that ran late,"  Allison says.

"I also think you could've picked a better class of place to meet than this dump,"  the woman says.

Allison looks at her.  "I had to pick some place where we wouldn't be seen together."

"Okay, so, you wanted to talk about John Ross Ewing."

"Yes,"  Allison replies.  "John Ross has been digging into my past.  And he's asking questions about Karen's husband, Jeffrey Myers.  About why Jeffrey killed himself."

"And did you tell him anything?"  The woman asks.

"Of course not.  John Ross thinks that Jeffrey and I were having an affair, and that the affair led to Jeffrey's suicide."

"Good.  Then I don't see the problem.  John Ross is way off track."

"You really think it's that simple?"  Allison asks.  "John Ross is not gonna give up that easy.  And, he's threatened to tell Karen that Jeffrey and I were lovers."

"Then let him."

"Did you seriously just say that to me?  You want me to let my sister believe that I was sleeping with her husband?"

"Isn't that better than the REAL truth coming out?"  The mystery woman asks.  "If John Ross, or anyone else finds out the truth about what we did..........then you and I could go to prison for a very long time, and I'm sure as hell not going to prison.  Which do you think would be easier for your precious sister to forgive?  An affair with her husband?  Or what REALLY happened?"

"Damn you,"  Allison says.  "I never should have let you talk me into this.  You and Jeffrey.  YOU got me into this mess."

"You were just as complcit in this as Jeffrey Myers and I were, so don't you dare go pointing fingers, Allison.  What is it John Ross wants in exchange for keeping the secret about you and Myers being lovers from your sister?"

"He wants me to put a stop to the Oil Regulatory Commission."

"Well, then the problem is solved.  Just stop that Commission from being formed."

"I can't do that,"  says Allison.  "Just how much power and influence do you think I have?"

"I don't know,"  the mystery woman replies.  "But one thing I DO know........you had better find a way to either put a stop to that Commission, or, we have two other choices.  Let John Ross go to your sister and tell her you were screwing her husband.  Or...........third option..........we somehow find a way to stop John Ross Ewing."

"Meaning what?"  Allison asks.

"If John Ross won't listen to reason and back off, then take care of him.  He can't expose any secrets, real or fabricated, if he isn't around to do so."'

Allison looks at the woman, an expression of horror on her face.  "Oh my God,"  she says.  "I hope you are not suggesting what I think you're suggesting."

"Listen to me, Allison,"  the woman says.  "As I said, I am NOT going to prison over this.  I'll do ANYTHING to keep that from happening, even if it means getting rid of a problem like John Ross Ewing."

"Then you'll do it yourself,"  Allison angrily says.  "I have done a lot in my life that I'm not proud of, but I have never deliberately harmed another person, and I won't start now."

"Oh yes, you will.  At this point, we have no choice, Allison.  If John Ross keeps digging and finds out the truth about what we did.........you and I could be looking at YEARS behind bars.  So, basically it comes down to John Ross........or us."

Allison looks at the woman, struggling to hold back her tears.

Meanwhile, across the room, sitting at another table is a young man who is watching Allison and the other woman.  The man is holding up his phone and secretly snapping photos of Allison and her companion.  After snapping a few photos, the man dials a number on his phone.  After two rings, someone answers on the other end of the line.  "Bum, it's me,"  the young man says.  "Yeah, I tailed Allison Jones to this restaurant on the outskirts of town.  She's here now, sitting at a table with another woman.  I'll send you some photos."  The young man ends the call, and

immediately messages Bum the photos he just took.  As the photos are sending, he takes a sip of his drink and continues to watch Allison and the other woman.

The Krebbs Ranch....early the next morning....

Dylan comes down the stairs of the Krebbs home the next morning and looks around.  He walks into the kitchen, but finds no one there, then walks into the living room, and finally, he hears someone in the small room Ray uses as an office.  Dylan walks to the door.  Ray is seated at the desk, his back to him.  Dylan knocks.  "Ray?"  He says.

Ray turns around and looks at him with a smile.  "Well, mornin'."

"Morning,"  Dylan says.  "Am I interrupting anything?"

"No, not at all.  I was just goin' over some bills here.  Feed bills and stuff for the ranch."

"Where's Donna?"

"I'm right here,"  Donna replies as she comes up behind Dylan and walks into the room.  "I was in the laundry room."

"Somethin' botherin' you, Dylan?"  Ray asks.

"No.  No, nothing's bothering me, but, if you have a minute, there is something I'd like to talk to you both about.  I wish Conner was here."

"He went into town to pick up some feed, and then he and Ben are headin' over to Fort Worth to pick up some steer we bought."

"This sounds really important,"  says Donna.  "Tell us, what's going on."

"I've been thinking about this for a while, and, I've made a decision.  A decision about my name."

Ray and Donna exchange confused looks.  "Your name?"  Donna asks.

"Yes.  It's been almost four years now since I found out that I'm really a Ewing and not a Baxter.  So, after a lot of thought, I've decided that it's time I changed my last name.  I feel like I'm in a much better place in my life right now than I've ever been.  I've been sober now for several months, and I attend AA meetings regularly.  I'm content with my life, probably for the first time ever.  And I have a beautiful new girlfriend in my life, also for the first time ever.  So, with all these positive changes in my life, it's time I make one more.  My last name.  I don't wanna be Dylan Baxter anymore.  The name Baxter has only meant pain for me."

"So, you wanna legally change your name to Dylan Ewing, is that it?"

"Well, I've thought a lot about that,"  Dylan says.  "Ray, you and Donna, you've both been more like parents to me than my own mother and John Baxter ever were.  And since I never knew my real father, Jack Ewing, Ray, you've been the father that I never really had.  So, I don't wanna leave you guys out of this."

"Dylan, I'm not real sure I know what you're trying to tell us,"  Donna says.

"Yes, I do wanna change my name.  But I want to include BOTH of my families in that.  So, I was thinking, if it's okay with you guys, I'd like to legally change my name to Dylan Krebbs Ewing."

Ray and Donna look at each other and smile, then they both look at the young man standing before them.  Ray stands and walks over to him.  "Dylan Krebbs Ewing.  I really like the way that sounds."

"So do I,"  Donna says, her voice filled with emotion.

"Okay,"  says Ray.  "If that's what you want, then why don't we call Jay Smithfield and have him get the ball rollin' on this."

Dylan nods.  "Yeah, okay," he says with a smile.

"Dylan Krebbs Ewing,"  Ray says.  "I really do love the sound of that.  And ya know somethin', Dylan Krebbs Ewing?"

"What?"

"Donna and I couldn't love you anymore, or be prouder of you if you were our own biological son.  Same goes for Conner."

Dylan struggles to hold back tears.  "I love you guys,"  he says.

"And we love you,"  Donna says, hugging him.  "So very much."

A parking lot in Dallas....

John Ross is sitting in his car in a parking lot across the street from Ewing Oil when Bum drives up and comes to a stop in the parking spot next to him.  Bum gets out of his truck carrying a large manila envelope and gets into the passenger side of John Ross's car.

"Alright, Bum, what'd your man get for me?"  John Ross asks.

"He trailed Allison Jones to this little out of the way sports bar on the outskirts of town last night, where she had a meeting with another woman.  Now my man said he wasn't close enough to hear what they were saying, but it looked like the conversation was pretty serious, even intense.  And John Ross, you'll never guess who the lady was that Allison went to meet last night.  Someone you know."

"Who is it?"  John Ross asks.

Bum hands the envelope to John Ross, who opens it and takes out some 8x10 photos.  John Ross looks at the photos

very carefully, a look of surprise on his face.  "What in the HELL?  Now what would Allison Jones be doin' meeting with her?  And how would they even know each other in the first place?"

"Good question,"  says Bum.

"Yeah.  And it's a question I'm gonna find the answer to.  It looks like there is a LOT more to Allison Jones than meets the eye."

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....later....

Mitch is in his office at the hospital later that morning, pouring himself a cup of coffee from his own coffee pot he keeps on hand in the office, when Lucy comes to his open door and knocks.  Mitch turns and sees her.  "Hello, Lucy.  Come in."

Lucy walks into the office.  "Hi, Mitch."

"You want some coffee?  I just made some."

"I'd love a cup, thanks."

Mitch picks up another cup and pours some coffee.  "As I remember you like cream and sugar."

"Yes."

Mitch puts three spoonfuls of sugar into Lucy's coffee, then some coffee creamer and stirs it.  He hands the cup to her.

"Thanks," Lucy says, sitting down in the chair across from Mitch's desk.  "I just stopped by Jacob's room."

"Yeah, I checked in on him a little while ago,"  Mitch says, taking a seat at his desk.

"Mitch, I wanna thank you for taking over as Jacob's primary doctor.  I know Christopher and Courtney really appreciate it."

"Oh, it's my pleasure, Lucy.  I only wish there was more I could do.  It's times like this, as a doctor, when you really feel helpless."

"It's really bad, isn't it?"  Lucy asks.

"Dr. Eubanks and I have both been checking databases, and organ donor registries, and.......so far no luck on finding a match for Jacob.  And with each passing day, Jacob's heart grows weaker."

"Oh my God, Mitch, that kid can't die,"  Lucy says in tears.  "Christopher has wanted to be a father for so long.  Why do tragedies like this keep happening to him?  Christopher is such a good man, but he can't catch a break.  First, he and Pamela lost their twins.  Then Courtney had a miscarriage last year, and now, Christopher has come to love Jacob like his own son, and now he could die.  I don't understand.  Why?"

"Lucy, I wish I could answer that.  But I don't think there are any answers.  Bad things just seem to happen to good people."

"It's so unfair,"  Lucy says.

"Yes, Lucy, it is."  Mitch gets up from his seat and walks around to the front of his desk.  Looking down at Lucy, Mitch takes a seat on the corner of the desk, and takes her by the hand.  "Lucy, I know how much this is affecting you.  I know how much your care for Christopher, Courtney, and Jacob.  Are you alright?"

Lucy looks up at him and manages a weak smile.  "I'll be fine."

"If you ever need someone to talk to, my door's always open."

Lucy nods.  "I know.  And I appreciate that.  I think I could get through just about anything with you to lean on as a friend."   Mitch smiles at her.  Lucy finishes off her cup of coffee, then stands.  "Well, I need to get back to work,"  she says.  "Thanks for the coffee, and for the talk."

"You're more than welcome, Lucy.  Anytime,"  Mitch says.  He and Lucy stand face to face, looking into each others' eyes for a moment, then, feeling an incredible sense of attraction, the two draw closer to each other, and finally kiss.  After a few seconds, the two pull out of the kiss.

"Well, I'll just get back to work,"  Lucy says.  "I'll see you later."  She smiles, then walks to the door to leave.

"Lucy?"  Mitch says.

She pauses at the door and looks back at him.

"Umm, how about dinner tonight?"

Lucy smiles.  "Dinner?  I'd love to."

"Okay, why don't I pick you up at, oh, say, 7 o'clock?"  Mitch asks.

"I'll be ready,"  Lucy says, then leaves.

After she's gone, Mitch smiles happily, his old feelings for Lucy clearly still present.

Catlin Oil....

Catlin's secretary buzzes his office.  "Yes, Melinda?"  He says.

"Mr. Ewing, Donna Love is here to see you."

"Oh?  Well, send her in,"  Catlin says.  Standing from his seat at his desk, he walks over to the door to greet Donna Love as she walks in.  "Donna,"  he says.

"Hello, Catlin,"  Donna says, greeting him with a hug.

"It's been a while.  What brings you by?"

"Well, I have a meeting with Eric in his office upstairs, and I wanted to talk to you first."

"Okay, well, please, sit down.  Can I offer you a drink?"

"No, thank you, I wouldn't care for anything,"  Donna says.

Catlin returns to his desk and takes a seat.  "Okay, so what can I do for you?"

"Catlin, has Eric spoken to you about his plan to sell Love International?"

"Yes, he has.  He told me about it a few days ago."

"Well, he offered the company to me,"  Donna says.

"Oh, really?"  Catlin asks.  "Well, I'm not surprised."

"Eric said that he wanted to offer the company to me first, in case I wanted to keep it in the family.  I told him that I would buy Love International."

"I see,  And what does this have to do with me?"

"Well, I'm going to need your help."

"My help?"

"Yes,"  Donna says.  "Catlin, as you know, it's been quite some years since I've been a part of the business world, and I know that things have changed considerably since I've been away from business."

"Well, yes, that's true,"  Catlin says with a nod.

"Therefore, I'm going to need an experienced business man to help me.  To teach me these news ways of doing business.  In other words......help me adapt to the 21st century business world."

"Well, Donna, I would, of course, be happy to help in any way I can."

Donna smiles.  "Thank you, I really appreciate that.  I'm sure I'm going to need all the help I can get."

"As I said, I'll do what I can.  But Donna, why me?  Why not just hired a business manager, or hire someone to run the company for you until you learn?"

"Well, Catlin, because.  I want someone I can trust.  A friend.  And there aren't too many people in the world today who can be trusted, but, you and I go back a long way, and I trust you."

"That certainly wasn't always the case,"  Catlin says.

"No, it wasn't, but that was a long time ago.  Well, I really must be getting upstairs for my meeting with Eric and our attorneys."  Donna stands.  "Catlin, thank you so much.  I'll be in touch after the contract is drawn up, and  once the sale is complete, that's when I'll need your help."

Catlin stands.  "Alright, I'll be waiting for your call."

"Thank you again.  My love to Sue Ellen.  Bye, Catlin."

"Goodbye, Donna,"  Catlin says.  Donna smiles at him, then turns and leaves the office.

Catlin retakes his seat and lets out a deep sigh, wondering if he made the right decision in agreeing to get involved with Donna Love in business.

Perry's Steakhouse And Grille....early afternoon....

Ann and Sue Ellen are having lunch at Perry's that afternoon.  "I thought I would go by the hospital again this afternoon and see Jacob,"  Sue Ellen says.

"I know he'd like that,"  Ann says.  "And I'm sure Christopher and Courtney would appreciate it."

"I thought maybe I would bring him something.  What kind of things do boys Jacob's age like?  I'm so out of touch with what kids like these days, especially since I totally missed out on Alex being that age."

"I do know that Jacob loves video games, and he has one of those hand held games with him at the hospital.  He also loves movies."

Sue Ellen shakes her head.  "Poor Christopher and Courtney.  How do parents cope with the fact that their child has a life threatening illness like that?"

"I don't know.  It's very hard on them.  On all of us."

"Yes, I know it is, and you.........Ann, I don't see how you've been so strong through everything.  Emma disappearing with the baby, and now this with Jacob."

Ann nods.  "Yes, and I had hoped that 2019 would be a better year.  But it really hadn't started out that way.  I just pray that a suitable heart will be found for Jacob.  And soon."

At that moment, Cliff and Afton walk over to their table.  "Well, hello, Sue Ellen,"  Cliff says.  "Hi, Ann."

The two women look up at them.  "Cliff, Afton,"  Sue Ellen says, coldly.

"Ann Cliff and I heard about Christopher's stepson,"  Afton says.  "And we just wanted to let you know how sorry we are."

"Yes, how is the boy?"  Cliff asks.

"Not good,"  Ann replies.  "The doctor said that the more time that passes, Jacob's heart is gettin' weaker.  He really needs a new heart, and soon."

"I'm so sorry,"  Afton says.

"So am I,"  says Cliff.  "And, if there's anything that I can do......that WE can do......please, don't hesitate to let us know."

"I seriously doubt that there's anything you can do, Cliff,"  Sue Ellen says.  "Or that there's anything Christopher would want you to do, after all the terrible things that you've done.  If it wasn't for you, Christopher and Pamela's twins would be alive today.  Afton, I honestly don't see how you can even stand to be around the man who killed your grandchildren."

"Sue Ellen...."  Afton says.

"Sue Ellen, that was a long time ago,"  Cliff says, cutting Afton's sentence off.  "I'm a different man now than I was then, and I have regretted what I did every day since."

"You claim that you're a changed man, Cliff, but yet you still insist on waging this ridiculous war against the Ewings.  The creation of that new Oil Regulatory Commission, with you as the head, is proof of that."

"The oil industry in Texas needs to be regulated and overseen, Sue Ellen, and I have the experience necessary to carry that out as a former head of the OLM and a former oil man myself.  And it's become clear that the Railroad Commission hasn't been doing a very good job in overseeing the industry, especially with Donna Krebbs as Commissioner.  That was a clear conflict of interest from the start, considering her relationship to the Ewings."

"And your hatred of the Ewings is also a clear conflict of interest,"  says Sue Ellen.  "And we're going to do everything in our power to keep you OFF that new commission."

"You can TRY, Sue Ellen."

"Cliff, let's just go,"  Afton says.

"Yes, I think that's a good idea,"  Sue Ellen says.

"I'm going to be head of the new ORC, Sue Ellen,"  Cliff says.  "And there's not a damned thing you, Bobby, or John Ross can do about it.  Come on, Afton."

"Afton, I thought that, despite how we have felt about each other over the years, you had at least a little class,"  Sue Ellen says.  "But to continue living with a man who has the blood of your grandchildren on his hands is low, even for you."

"You're a fine one to talk, seeing as how you lived with a man like J.R. Ewing all those years,"  Afton says.

"J.R. may have done some questionable things, Afton, but he NEVER intentionally harmed any member of his own family."

"QUESTIONABLE things?"  Afton asks.  "The man was evil, Sue Ellen, and you're still either too blind or too stupid to see that."

"You little bitch,"  Sue Ellen says, standing to face her as the people around them begin to stare at them.

"All right, that's enough,"  Ann says, quickly getting up from her seat and standing between the other two women.  "Cliff, Afton, please just go."

"Come on, Afton,, it's not worth it,"  Cliff says.

Sue Ellen and Afton glare angrily at each other for a couple of seconds, then Cliff and Afton walk away.  After they are gone, Ann and Sue Ellen retake their seats.

"Those two make me so angry,"  Sue Ellen says.  "If any two people ever truly deserved each other, it's Cliff and Afton."

"Alright, just calm down,"  Ann tells her.

Meanwhile, Cliff and Afton exit the restaurant.  "Oooh, that woman makes me SO mad,"  Afton says.

"Yeah, I know, but don't let her get under your skin,"  Cliff says.  "That's just what she was trying to do.  We never should've gone over to their table, just trying to be nice and offer our support for what's going on with Christopher's stepson.  But you can't be nice to those people."

"One of these days, I really am gonna knock Sue Ellen off her high horse,"  Afton says.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....

Joseph Gioberti and his father, Cole, step off an elevator on the fifth floor of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in the afternoon.  Joseph spots Courtney down the hall in a waiting room.  He and Cole make their way down the hall and walk into the room where Courtney, Christopher, Bobby, and Phyllis are waiting.  "Courtney,"  Joseph says.

Courtney looks up and sees her son's father, and she is somewhat stunned by Joseph's changed appearance, his longer hair and beard.  "Joseph,"  she says.  "Hi, you look very different."

"I know.  That was kinda the point of growing my hair long.  Courtney, how is Jacob?"

"They have him down for more tests now.  Joseph, they're saying that if Jacob doesn't get a heart soon, that............that he could die."

"My God, Courtney, I'm so sorry,"  Joseph says.  "I wish there was something I could do."

"I know."

"Oh, Courtney, you remember my father, Cole Gioberti, don't you?"

"Yes, of course.  Mr. Gioberti."

"Hello, Courtney,"  Cole says.

"And, you remember my husband, Christopher Ewing?"

"Yes.  Christopher,"  Cole says, shaking Christopher's hand.

"Mr. Gioberti."

"Please, call me Cole."

Christopher nods.

"And this is Christopher's father, Bobby Ewing, and my mother, Phyllis Wapner,"  Courtney says.

"Has the doctor said what caused this heart condition?"  Joseph asks.  "I mean, how does an 11-year-old kid suddenly develop a life threatening heart condition?"

"The doctor said that it could've been a virus that weakened Jacob's heart,"  says Bobby.

"A virus?"  Joseph asks.

"Yes,"  replies Courtney.  "It could've happened a long time ago, and just now manifested itself."

"Is there anything at all that we can do?"  Joseph asks.

"No, there isn't,"  Christopher replies.  "In fact, there was really no need for you to even come here."

"No need?   I'm that boy's father."

"You've never even met Jacob,"  Christopher says.  "He wouldn't even know you if you were standing right in front of him."

"That was NOT my choice,"  says an angry Joseph.

"Alright, this itn't helpin' anybody, least of all Jacob,"  says Bobby.

"He's right,"  Cole says.  "Joseph, come on.  Let's go sit down and wait."

Joseph and Christopher glare angrily at each other, then Joseph and Cole walk over to a sofa and sit down.  Christopher walks over to a window and looks out.

Meanwhile....

John Ross walks onto the front porch of a house on the outskirts of Dallas and rings the doorbell.  A moment later, a maid answers the door.  "May I help you?"

"Yes.  I need to see your boss.  It's important."

"And may I have your name, sir?"

"John Ross Ewing."

"Come in,"  the maid says.  John Ross walks into the foyer of the house.  "I'll tell the mistress you're here."  The maid leaves the room.

John Ross walks into the living room and looks around.  Going to the fireplace, he picks up a framed photo from the mantle and looks at it.  As his back is to the living room door, a woman walks into the room.  Hearing her, John Ross replaces the photo on the mantle and turns to the woman.

"Well, well.......John Ross.  This is a surprise,"  Kimberly Cryder says.

"Well, hello, Kimberly,"  John Ross says.

"To what do I owe this unexpected visit?"

"I came here for some answers.  Answers I knew I wouldn't get anywhere else."

"Answers?"  Kimberly asks.  "I don't know what you're talking about."

John Ross reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out the envelope Bum had given him that morning.  Opening it, he pulls out the photos.  "I'm talkin' about this, Kimberly.  This meetin' you had last night in an out of the way place.  A place you would never be caught dead.......unless you were tryin' to hide.  Now I wanna know.........just what the hell were doin' with Allison Jones, and how do you even know her?"

Kimberly looks at John Ross, caught off guard by the question, and realizing she has to think quickly to come up with an answer.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital....

Mitch and Dr. Eubanks walk into the waiting room where Bobby, Ann, who has just joined her husband and the others, Christopher, Courtney, Cole, and Joseph are waiting.  "We're finished with Jacob's test,"  Mitch says.  "He's back in his room."

"And?  How is he?"  Courtney asks.

"Did his latest tests show anything different?"  Christopher asks.

"Yes," replies Dr. Eubanks.  "Jacob's heart muscle continues to grow weaker.  The weaker the heart grows, the harder it's having to work to pump blood to Jacob's organs.  Time is of the essence.  Dr. Cooper and I have both been in almost constant contact with every large hospital around the country in an attempt to find a suitable match for Jacob.  But so far, we haven't had any luck.  Jacob's blood type is AB-Negative, which is the rarest blood type.  And, unfortunately, that's working against us."

"What do you mean by that?"  Joseph asks.

"The donor heart has to come from another person with type AB-Negative blood,"  Eubanks says.  "The age of the donor and the size of the heart also have to be taken into account."

"So, what you're basically saying is, Jacob's chances are getting slimmer every day?"  Christopher asks.

"I'm afraid so."

"Please, tell me,"  Courtney says in tears.  "How much time does my son have, if you can't find a heart?"

"If we can't find a suitable heart for Jacob...........a few weeks at the most.  Jacob's organs will begin to shut down."

"God, no,"  Courtney cries as Christopher embraces her.

Bobby and Ann also embrace while Cole puts a comforting hand on his son's shoulder as Joseph fights back tears, devastated by the thought of losing the son he has never even gotten the chance to know.

WOW! Jill's mother in league with Allison Jones. Andrew Murray is First Class sleazebag. I think John Ross was stupid getting in on that deal with Adam. I'm glad that Krystina found out about John Ross' deal with Adam. Hopefully, she can do something to stop it.

Kimberly Cryder meeting with Allison Jones? What? That doesn't make any sense, I need a big time explanation on this one. Hope things with Jacob work out.

I like how everyone is coming together in this situation with Jacob. However now that Joseph is in town, i do think Jacob needs to know the truth about his father and it might be better if he hears it from Courtney and Christopher then someone else.
As for John Ross, i'm worried that he's heading for a fall regarding the deal he made with ColbyCo because as Krystina pointed out Adam can't be trusted.Plus maybe there's a reason that Adam will want the deal between Ewing Oil and ColbyCo.For example did John Ross read every contract he signed with Adam?If not maybe Adam put something in the deal that John Ross doesn't know about. As for Krystina, even though she said that she wouln't say anything about John Ross making a deal with ColbyCo i don't think she said she would lie if someone asks her about it.

Great episode John. You really have to feel so sorry for Christopher and Courtney. Cannot imagine how difficult this must be for them and the family. John Ross seems to be getting into another situation that can be precarious. He really should start being more cautious given the fact he has a wife and 3 children to think of b

Wow! That was a long chapter, John, with lots of drama and I have a feeling concerning Jacob's situation things will get a lot worse before they hopefully get better. I wonder, since the Ewings and Giobertis are both families of power, will they use their influence (and money) to get a donor heart for Jacob more quickly? It's good to see the Ewing family come together in a time of crisis. That is always what I liked most about them in the original series.

John Ross is not acting in a very smart way with the ColbyCo deal though, even his own wife is warning him about her brother. That should tell him something! I also wonder, if Alexis Colby is pulling the strings in the background.

The scene between Ann, Sue Ellen, Cliff and Afton at the restaurant was very well written, classic, the whole setting and dialogue very true to the original show. John showed very well how far gone the feud between the Ewings and the Barnes is. Cliff and Afton were, I think, honest in their concern about Jacob, but it is totally understandable that their offer of help gets under Sue Ellen's skin because of the feud and because of what Cliff did in the past. So there is no peace.

The confrontation between Afton and Sue Ellen was just like old times and poor Ann had to referee again! LOL Sue Ellen may have tried to provoke Cliff and Afton, but she was right: There are issues concerning Cliff's past and his guilt that he and Afton have to deal with, talk about and see if they can somehow get past them, if possible at all.

The connection between Allison Jones and Kimberly Cryder is highly intriguing, of course. Can't wait to find out how that turns out and if this will in the long-run have a negative impact on Jill. Also, are we moving towards Justin and Pamela's wedding?

Thank you for great entertainment, John.

@Verena I do wonder if the Ewings and Giobertis will use their power, influence and money to get a donor heart for Jacob more quickly and maybe even cross a few lines to do it?
As for Alexis, i also wonder if she's pulling the strings in the background and is setting John Ross up.As for Krystina, i could see her doing some digging to make sure that the deal between Ewing Oil and ColbyCo is on the up and up and that there's nothing in it that could come back to bite John Ross later.
As for Cliff and Afton, i do think they were sincerely concerned about Jacob but i can also understand why Sue Ellen might have been suspicious of their concern.
I also wonder what the connection between Allison Jones and Kimberly Cryder is and if they did something illegal in the past and Allison's dead brother-in-law was involved in it too.It could have something to do with how Jill became CEO of Westar.Plus John Ross may know that even if Allison and her brother-in-law were having an affair it may not explain why the brother-in-law was getting depressed enough to kill himself.
As for Justin and Pamela, i do wonder if because of the situation with Jacob they decide to have a small wedding with just the kids and their mothers and maybe Jimmy could be Justin's best man and then later they can always throw a party or something.

I understand all the concerns about a big wedding with all the Ewings and Barnes present very well. I just think we have to ask ourselves: would Pamela want a wedding without her father by her side? Not matter what he did to her in the past and that was a lot, she still loves her "daddy".

  • #10

    Andrew Hass (Wednesday, 20 February 2019 12:33)

Verena Plus considering this could be her last wedding Pamela may want both her parents there. However i could see both Pamela and Afton warning Cliff to behave at the wedding.Yes Cliff may not like Justin or like the fact that Pamela's marrying Justin but the point might be no one's asking him to like Justin or to accept Justin as his son-in-law.Pamela may just want her father to be happy for her.

  • #11

    Verena (Wednesday, 20 February 2019 13:02)

Good point, Andrew. I am sure Afton will warn Cliff to behave and Pamela will definitely beg him to and I think despite all the resentment Cliff feels towards a Ewing son-in-law, he saw how miserable and depressed Pamela was without Justin and that she is happy now. He loves her and might for once be able to control himself. Also considering his usual behaviour Cliff acted rather calm during the confrontation with Sue Ellen at the restaurant. So there might still be hope... ;)

@Verena I'm wondering if Cliff's dislike of Justin has more to do with Justin's last name been Ewing and less to do with Justin himself because as far as i know Justin has done nothing to Cliff.Plus if i remember correctly that before he was arrested Justin was willing to give Pamela money so that she could save Cliff and Brad's company.Yeah Justin was doing it for Pamela's sake but he was still willing to help Cliff and Brad.So maybe if Cliff got to know Justin a little he might start to like him.I'm not saying Cliff and Justin will start acting like best friends but they might at least get along.Plus i can just imagine the reactions of certain people if Justin started to become friendly with Cliff.I also liked that Cliff was calm during the confrontation with Sue Ellen and maybe part of it was that because he knew some of what Sue Ellen was saying was the truth in regards to him been responsible for the deaths of his grandchildren.

  • #15

    Verena (Thursday, 21 February 2019 09:04)

I agree, Andrew. I remember Cliff saying at one point that he believed that Justin in his view was probably not like the rest of the Ewings because he did not grow up with them. Then again, Justin immediately became suspicious when he heard Cliff would head the ORC, with good reason, of course. If Cliff uses this position to go after the Ewings, there will be trouble. As much as Justin and Pamela might try to keep out of it, they will be in some way affected by it all.

I agree with you that Cliff's reaction can be attributed to the fact that Sue Ellen was right about his responsibility for the deaths of his grandchildren and he knows it. That's why I think Afton and he have to address this issue at some point and deal with it somehow, if they want a chance of getting back together. I believe she loves him despite the terrible things he did in the past because she believes he is not the same cruel person anymore. She has said as much when she pointed out that what she loves about him is his love for his children.

    Andrew Hass (Thursday, 21 February 2019 11:29)

Yeah Justin and Pamela might try to stay out of the Ewing/Barnes feud as much as they can but that might be easier said than done. Now i know this isn't going to happen but if i was Justin and Pamela i would take the kids and just leave Dallas for a fresh start somewhere else because they will always be caught in the middle between their families. Also i'm assuming when they get married Pamela and the kids will be moving onto Justin's ranch but maybe Justin and Pamela need to discuss the fact that he bought the ranch for him and Amanda.I'm not saying Justin still loves Amanda but the ranch was his and Amanda's home when they were married and maybe he and Pamela need to talk about that.
I also agree that Cliff and Afton need to address a few things before they reunite and clear the air between them. Now Afton may never understand Cliff blowing up that rig knowing their daughter was on it but she might be able to move past it.Also i'm wondering if Cliff might try to reach out to Christopher during this situation with Jacob and try to be there for him.I'm not saying Cliff and Christopher will ever be as close as they were in the past because too much has happened on both their parts but maybe they could come to a new place where they could at least tolerate each other at times.

    Timmy (Thursday, 21 February 2019 21:09)

I never understood Afton and Pamela forgiving cliff for blowing up that rig with Pamela on it and causing the death of Pamelas unborn children no doubt JR was a ruthless even vicious man at times but compared to what cliff did blowing up the rig he is a saint it's mind boggling to me

  • #18

    Verena (Friday, 22 February 2019 00:01)

I do not think they have really forgiven Cliff. How could they? But they are trying to deal with the situation somehow because he is a family member. Love is not logical. John also has taken on the difficult task of reparing what the TNT series messed up with Cliff's character and is doing a great job in my opinion. As for J.R. being a saint, I remember that he drove numerous competitors to suicide or attempted suicide without remorse. So Afton had a point calling him devilish.

  • #19

    Verena (Friday, 22 February 2019 03:05)

It is also a fact that the women on Dallas never see the men in their lives the way they really are or were. This counts for both Sue Ellen and Afton, even on the orginal show. Sue Ellen lived with J.R. for many years knowing how many lives he destroyed, including destroying the marriage of his own brother to Pamela, also without remorse. Now Afton lives with Cliff, even though he did terrible things in the past. So even though it is something that is hard to understand, it is not uncharacteristic of the show. And John presents Cliff as a changing character.

  • #20

    Andrew Hass (Friday, 22 February 2019 06:34)

@Verena As you point out JR wasn't a saint and he did some not so nice things that hurt people but his family still loved him despite everything he did.So it could be the same thing with Cliff and his family in that Pamela and Afton may never understand why he did in regards to the rig explosion and other things he may have done but they still love him.Plus i do think Cliff is honestly trying to show that he has changed because he may know that he can't go back and change the past but he can try to be a better person now.

  • #21

    Verena (Friday, 22 February 2019 08:15)

Exactly, Andrew, and Cliff has really been there for his family, especially his children, in the last few years and Afton has realized this.

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 10:44)

To all the people talking about Cliff Barnes, everybody has excellent points. Cliff Barnes has done very despiscable, very unethical, and illegeally things. He killed his unborn grandchildren and put a hit on his pregnant daughter. Henchmen had more heart and compassion than he did. I think that’s just bad writing and bad character development at the end of the day. He resembled a crime boss at the end of the day. That’s just really bad character development. But John has done amazing with his character in the last five years though. But he never apologized to Christopher, Pamela, or Afton. They never addressed the problem. So those three, or at least Cliff, Pamela, and Afton have a ton of talking to do at the end of the day.

  • #23

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 11:18)

Okay first of all, Afton has a point in calling JR Ewing devilish! That’s extactly what he was. But Cliff Barnes was devilish too. The fact of the matter is NOBODY on Dallas is a saint, EVERYBODY on this show has done something scandalous! Afton, Cliff, and Christopher all have done their dirt. Bobby has done dirt too. He’s not innocent! Hell even Krystina has done dirt, Courtney too. Like I said, everybody on this show and in these episodes has done something they have really regretted. And yes JR pretty much destroyed Sue Ellen twice, but Sue Ellen has a point, JR is no murderer. And Krystina needs to do some digging to help John Ross get out of this deal with Colby Co. I don’t trust Adam and Alexis as far as I could throw them at them at the end of the day; it’s not worth it at the end of the day. And Allison Jones is screwed! And what the hell did Kimberly Cryder and Allison Jones do to Jeffrey Myers? John Ross is put in the awkward position because his sisters mother is involved in this mess. He doesn’t want her so if I were Kimberly, I’d tell him what’s going on. Then he can get Allison Jones and Cliff Barnes off the Oil Regulatory Committee for good LOL! And that is why John Ross does the hard things because in the end he is doing everything possible to protect his family, and Ewing Oil from being threatened. Plus he knows Kimberly Cryder has done business with his father so that’s why he’s going out of his way to possibly bargain with her. And of course she is his fathers former mistresses. And I hope to god Jacob survives. No parent should ever have to bury a child! Man, but I’m glad Courtney called Joseph though even though he’s never laid eyes on the boy.

  • #24

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 12:15)

And believe me, he made it crystal clear that he didn’t want Bobby marrying Cliff Barnes sister. Let’s be honest, he made her life a living hell. He always referred to Pam as that Barnes girl LOL! I think he very much preferred Jenna Wade to Pam at the end of the day. JR was pretty evil, but he was charmastic at the end of the day, and funny too. There is just a lot of bad blood between The Barnes and Ewings, especially Sue Ellen and Afton. They both slept with the same man, and he did both of them wrong. So each are kind of bitter at each other for all the bad blood over the years. Plus Jock Ewing never screwed Digger Barnes out of nothing; that’s just stuff Cliff Barnes been believing for years. JR was right about one thing, Digger Barnes was a drunk who installed Pam and Cliff to hate the Ewings. This feud has cost the Ewings Ms. Ellie, JR, and Jock Ewing. It’s cost the Barnes Hubert and Rebecca Wentworth. And Cliff Barnes is to blame for his mothers death because instead of beating the Ewings himself, he got his mother involved and she died in a plane crash. The relationship between Cliff and Katherine was never the same again. And she really lit into him but she had a point. Should have fought his own battles himself.

Dylan changing his name was wonderful! He has a new outlook on life. He has a hot looking girlfriend for the first time, someone who actually likes and cares about him instead of somebody who is trying to take advantage of him like Amanda did. I think Ashley and Dylan will be good for each other and everything. And the best thing is Dylan is not a ladies man like Cole or Shawn is. That means he’s going to treat her well, and not cheat on her or abuse her sexually or physically. Glad things are looking up for Dylan, Ashley too. Hopefully one day Jimmy, Clay, and Ashley will be able to be in the same room with each other and everything.

    Verena (Saturday, 23 February 2019 13:14)

@ Derek Plus, Sue Ellen always had a way of rubbing Afton's humble beginnings into her face. I had to think about that in connection with scene at the restaurant in this chapter. She always made Afton feel that she lacked class and breeding. On the TNT series Sue Ellen called her a social climber. I have always felt that at least that was unfair because Afton very much worked for everything she achieved, more than Sue Ellen at first when she only married into a rich family, before she became an independent, successful business woman herself. Her attitude always succeeded in getting under Afton's skin. Their verbal battles were legendary and I always enjoy the continuation of these in John's plot.

  • #27

    Andrew Hass (Saturday, 23 February 2019 14:11)

@Derek Matthews I also like Dylan has a new outlook on life and is finally happy with Ashley as his girlfriend. Also now that things are going good in his life maybe Dylan could see about going back to school or even do something with his music.Plus i'm sure Dylan loves working on Ray's ranch but does he want to do that for the rest of his life? Also i hope we get to see Jimmy and Ashley have moments where they miss their dad and they could even have moments where they could feel guilty for been happy in their lives while their dad is dead.

  • #28

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 14:12)

What’s a social climber? And when did Sue Ellen call Afton that because I really don’t remember that at the end of the day on the TNT series. Well I agree that Afton worked a lot harder than Sue Ellen. I mean even in the original series she was a club owner and singer. She was making money. Sue Ellen became independent too eventually. But you are right, Sue Ellen at first when she married JR came off as a gold digger. She just married into a rich family. Fact is she didn’t really do anything. JR had a job, Sue Ellen didn’t. I don’t know when Sue Ellen ended up at Ewing Oil at the end of the day. But I think part of that is because they were both mothers and matriarchs and both had such strong personalities. When you put that and bad blood together, you get the makings of some great verbal battles. Man, I would love to see Afton and Sue Ellen Duk it out in the boxing ring together LOL.

  • #29

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 14:21)

I agree with you. Dylan should definitely go back to school, maybe he can get a job in Aftons club where he can perform or something. She may not care that he’s a Ewing at the end of the day like Cliff Barnes does. And Jimmy and Ashley need to have more moments, Jimmy needs to accept Clay as his brother. I don’t really hate Clay Beaumont anymore. I just think his mom was a complete psycho, and she proved it by killing two people. Maybe Ashley can watch Dylan perform in person.

  • #30

    Andrew Hass (Saturday, 23 February 2019 14:24)

@Derek Matthews Yes JR wasn't a murderer but some of his actions whether directly or indirectly did cause some people to die.Yeah he may not have killed them himself but he did have blood on his hands. However as you point no character on Dallas has been completely innocent. They all have done things they regret i'm sure but some have learned from their mistakes and others continue to making the same mistakes. For example John Ross continuing to do things behind Bobby and Sue Ellen's backs at Ewing Oil and when he gets caught he doesn't stop.

  • #31

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 14:32)

Cliff should have no issues with Justin. The only reason that Cliff hates Justin is because of his last thing. Other than that, Justin has done nothing to Cliff. Cliff just hates Justin because of the last name, his brother is John Ross, Bobby is his Uncle, and that’s it. Brad and Justin will never be friends. That was evident when Pamela was dating Justin, and Brad was with Amanda. John Ross and Brad hate each other. They probably wouldn’t spit on each other if the other was on fire at the end of the day, and everything. That’s how personal it is there. Anyway, Justin and Pamela might need to elope because no way are these families coming together for a wedding. Too much drama and tension. Cliff won’t behave him to make this happen so Pamela and Justin might need to take their moms, Ashley, and Jimmy and elope. That’s the only solution.

  • #32

    Andrew Hass (Saturday, 23 February 2019 14:33)

@Derek Matthews I would like it if Afton hires Dylan to perform at her club and as a result her club could become a bigger setting where different characters could interact. For example Ray, Donna, Connor and Ashley could go to the club to see Dylan perform and interact with Afton and Cliff.Plus on the original series Cliff and Donna did date for a bit before she married Ray and that could be revisited a little. As for Jimmy and Clay, i do think eventually they'll have to accept they're brothers but maybe at first they could just be friends and then slowly bond as brothers.

  • #33

    Verena (Saturday, 23 February 2019 15:33)

@ Derek Sue Ellen did not tell Afton to her face that she was a social climber, but at the hospital after Pamela's horrific "accident" on the oil rig, John Ross called Afton and apparently she and Sue Ellen had an off-the-screen confrontation, because Sue Ellen tells John Ross:"I just bumped into Afton. I can't believe you called that social climber". When he argues that Pamela needs her mother, Sue Ellen says:"She is drama, John Ross". Calling her a social climber in this context refered to the fact that Sue Ellen believed that Afton had a strong drive to gain a higher social status without having any class.

I think the idea of Dylan singing at Afton's club is cool. I don't think Afton would mind that Dylan is a Ewing. He is good and she can spot real talent.

  • #34

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 16:59)

OH OK I understand now. I thought it was on-screen to her face. Thank you for clearing that one help. The fact that Sue Ellen got mad at John Ross for calling that social climber as you say is just ridiculous. How is Afton drama? Well Sue Ellen and Afton just have had bad blood for years. I can honestly say that Sue Ellen and Afton hate each other just as much as Ann hated Judith Ryland. And Bobby Ewing and Cliff Barnes as well as Richard Channing. There are just so many rivalries all over the place.

  • #35

    Andrew Hass (Saturday, 23 February 2019 17:01)

@Verena I agree that Afton wouldn't mind that Dylan is a Ewing if she hires him to perform at her club and she might even see it as a way of her extending a sort of olive branch to the Ewing family.Plus maybe Justin and Afton could team up in business in that since Justin owns a record/music company maybe some of his talent could perform at Afton's club once in a while.

  • #36

    Derek Mathews (Saturday, 23 February 2019 17:09)

You know something Andrew Haas, I would like to see that as well. Then that way Dylan can make money, start saving, and maybe afford to take Ashley out to an expensive restaurant. Donna dated Cliff? Lord have mercy? I swear to god, it seems like everybody on Dallas has hooked up with each other at least once. Like Ray dating Pam, hooking up with Jenna, and Donna. Katherine hooking with up JR. Ray even hooked up with Lucy. And Peter hooked up with Sue Ellen.

  • #37

    Verena (Saturday, 23 February 2019 17:29)

@ Andrew I agree about Justin and Afton teaming up in business and if I remember correctly Afton always wanted a recording contract and never got one. So the very least Justin could do would be giving his new mother-in-law a recording contract by his record company, right? LOL

  • #38

    Andrew Hass (Saturday, 23 February 2019 17:30)

@Derek Matthews Working at Afton's club would be a good way for Dylan to earn money and at the same time he'll be doing something he likes which is doing music.Plus even though i'm sure Dylan loves living with Ray and Donna it could be a little awkward now that he has a girlfriend. So maybe he would want to earn money to find a new place to live and been on his own could be good for him too.
As for Donna dating Cliff in the past, i don't think it was anything serious between them and i don't even know they even had sex.Plus their relationship ended when Donna backed Bobby instead of Cliff to her stepson Dave Culver's replacement in the state senate and then shortly after she ended things with Cliff she go back together with Ray and they got married.
